Attention Keller Community! The Keller Clay Target Team recently participated in the DFW Championship 50/50/100 Tournament held at Ellis County Sportsman’s Club in Waxahachie, TX, and they have some exciting news to share!
Keller brought 13 athletes to the tournament, where they competed against 260 youth athletes from 23 different teams across North Texas. The competition was fierce, and the stakes were high. However, the Keller Clay Target Team showed up and showed out, ultimately finishing in 2nd Place, only 13 targets behind the 1st Place team out of a total of 1000.
Not only did Keller as a team perform incredibly well, but several individual athletes also brought home some impressive awards. Hunter Barber placed 2nd in Men's Varsity HAA (Highest All Around) in the Northwest League and 3rd in Men's Varsity HAA in the DFW Championship. Ethan Fuller placed 4th in Men's Varsity HAA in the Northwest League. Garrett Kelly placed 1st in Men's Varsity HAA in the Northwest League and 4th in Men's Varsity HAA in the DFW Championship. Xander Morgan placed 1st in Men's Varsity HAA in the Northwest League, and Jake Wright placed 1st in Men's Junior Varsity HAA in the Northwest League and 3rd in Men's Junior Varsity HAA in the DFW Championship.
These HAA winners for the Northwest League each received a buckle for their accomplishments in League shoots throughout the entire season!
But the success of Keller's Clay Target Team didn't stop there. In the skeet competition, Keller Senior/Varsity athlete Garrett Kelly shot a perfect score of 50 out of 50, while Hunter Barber and Xander Morgan both shot a total of 49 out of 50. In trap, Hunter Barber led the way with a score of 48 out of 50, followed closely by
Michael Spencer with a score of 46 and Autry Clark with a score of 44, each out of 50 targets.
Finally, in sporting clays, Xander Morgan led the charge with a score of 94 out of 100.
This is an incredible accomplishment for the Keller Clay Target Team, and we want to congratulate them on their success! They have worked incredibly hard this season, and their dedication and passion have paid off. They have made their school and community proud, and we are excited to see what they will achieve in the future.
